SMS Messaging — Opt-In & Compliance Information

Program description

Utopia is a personal productivity application. We send SMS text messages to users who explicitly opt in, to deliver daily briefings, to-do reminders, and other productivity alerts configured by the user. Messages are sent from a US toll-free number operated by Utopia.

How users opt in to SMS

SMS opt-in is a separate, explicit action. It is not bundled with account creation or acceptance of our Terms of Service. To opt in, a logged-in user must:

  1. Add a phone number in Settings → Account
  2. Navigate to Settings → Notifications
  3. Read the consent disclosure shown below the toggle
  4. Enable the "Enable SMS Notifications" toggle

The toggle cannot be enabled without a saved phone number. The following consent disclosure is displayed directly beneath the toggle, before any opt-in can be completed:

By enabling this toggle, I agree to receive recurring automated SMS text messages from Utopia to my phone number — including daily briefings, to-do reminders, and alerts. Message frequency varies (up to 2/day). Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply. This consent is separate from any other agreement.

What SMS messages are sent

Users receive only message types they explicitly configure in Settings:

Daily Briefing user-configured

One SMS per day at a time chosen by the user — a morning summary of upcoming to-dos, habit streaks, and calendar events.

To-Do Reminders user-configured

Alerts for tasks due within the next 5 days. Sent only when the user has items with upcoming due dates.

Smart Reply Commands

Users can reply to any Utopia SMS: BRIEFING (fresh summary), DONE # (complete a to-do), SNOOZE (delay first overdue item), STOP (unsubscribe), HELP (support info).

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on user configuration. Users who enable all notification types receive at most 1–2 SMS messages per day. Users who enable only reminders receive messages only on days when tasks are due.

How to opt out

Users can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by:

After texting STOP, a confirmation message is sent and no further SMS messages will be sent. Users can re-subscribe by texting START or re-enabling the toggle in Settings.

Message & data rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan. Utopia does not charge for SMS notifications beyond your standard carrier rates.

Privacy

Phone numbers collected for SMS are used only to send Utopia notifications. We do not share or sell phone numbers to third parties. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
